Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2026
TVButter ("the app") is a media player for M3U streams. This policy explains what data the app handles and how.
Data we collect
TVButter does not collect, store, or transmit personal information to our servers. No account is required to use the app.
Data stored locally on your device
- Playlist URLs | URLs you add to the app are stored in local app storage so they persist between sessions. They are never sent anywhere except to the URL you specified to fetch channel data.
- App preferences | settings such as your last viewed channel, favorite channels, and display preferences are stored locally.
- EPG cache | downloaded Electronic Program Guide data is cached locally to reduce repeat network requests.
Network requests
The app makes outbound HTTPS requests only to:
- URLs you explicitly configure (your M3U playlists and EPG sources).
- Public channel catalog sources you opt in to (Free-TV, iptv-org), hosted on GitHub.
- Google Play Integrity API | to verify the app was installed from the Play Store. This check contacts Google's servers. See Google's documentation for details on what data is involved.
No analytics, advertising SDKs, or crash-reporting services are included in the app.
Permissions
- INTERNET | required to fetch playlists, EPG data, and stream video from URLs you configure.
Children
TVButter is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we will update the date at the top of this page.
